Bespoke Interior Design in Cheshire: A Timeless Master Bedroom Refresh

There’s something particularly special about designing a bedroom that feels both beautifully considered and completely personal. As part of an ongoing whole-house project in Cheshire, we recently turned our attention to the master bedroom, creating a softer, more layered scheme centred around a bespoke upholstered headboard.
The wider house project is still very much in the works, but we couldn’t resist sharing a glimpse of this part of the transformation.
Bespoke Headboard
The starting point for the bedroom was a bespoke headboard, designed specifically for the space. We chose Colefax and Fowler’s Brandon Stripe in Old Blue, a timeless stripe that brings just the right amount of pattern and character to the room. It’s a lovely example of how a traditional fabric can feel fresh and relevant when used in a simple, tailored way.
For us, bespoke pieces like this are an important part of creating a room that feels individual. The headboard was designed around the proportions of the room and the overall direction of the scheme.

Layering Fabrics Throughout the Room
To complement the new headboard, we continued the blue tones and traditional feel through the window treatments.
For the curtains, we selected Colefax & Fowler Garden in Blue. The botanical pattern adds another layer of interest without competing with the stripe of the headboard, helping to create that relaxed, collected feel that is so important in a bedroom.
Whereas the blinds we opted for the Colefax & Fowler Foss in Teal Linen, bringing in a beautiful textural element and a slightly deeper blue-green tone. The combination of patterned curtains, textured blinds and the striped headboard creates depth while keeping the overall scheme feeling calm and cohesive.

A Bedroom Designed to Feel Timeless
The aim for this space was never to create something overly styled. Instead, we wanted the bedroom to feel elegant and enduring, a room that would continue to feel inviting for years to come. The mix of classic Colefax & Fowler fabrics, bespoke upholstery and carefully considered window treatments gives the room a distinctly timeless character, while the layered shades of blue keep the scheme feeling fresh.
And this is only one part of the story.
We’re looking forward to sharing more of the project as it develops but for now, we’re delighted with how this first glimpse of the master bedroom has come together.
